Die struck work pieces are sandblasted over their entire surface. The raised portions (ie. lettering and design lines) are then polished leaving the recessed area (background) with an ultra fine matte finish for contrast.

This can then be further enhanced with a bright nickel plate or 24 kt gold "flashing" for a classic look at a very low price.
